Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor that allows you to take notes right on your personal computer. Zim is formatted just like Wikipedia, so you can manage your notes just like you would a Wikipedia page. Zim allows you to create to do lists and embed pictures into the page. You can also export the document in HTML and view your notes in your browser, just as you would a Web page. That allows you to view your notes from anywhere as long as you have the Web address.
Zim automatically saves as you type, so there is no need to back up your file or to press the save button. It also supports plug-ins so that you can perform tasks such as spell check, maintain calendar and export files.
This program would be useful for PR professionals because it serves as an easy way to take notes in meetings. Because the internet is not required to use the application, you can work in any environment.
Another really cool thing about this program is that the files save as text files with wiki markup so you can edit them
through other applications such as Microsoft Word.
